a lot of rain from seattle right down through portland, oregon. and stretching down in to california, as well. there could be some delays in the seattle area. anyone traveling through the mountain passes we are seeing several inches of snow. been raining and snowing out that way since last weekend. so, travel troubles continue in the northwest but everywhere else we are seeing a good amount of sunshine for what's left of the travel this evening. tonight looks clear and not too cold so icy patches not an issue but tomorrow it will actually be a white thanksgiving across portions of northern north dakota, northern minnesota. but elsewhere, again, seeing sunshine. a couple of showers possible through the chicago area. nothing that should create too too many delays and still a nuisance but most people will already be in their destination getting to thanksgiving and then friday some of that lighter rain starting to spread eastward. otherwise, thanksgiving looks good. >> thanks so much for that. >>> for more on holiday travel, we're joined by wendy saks. toure? >> let's talk about the bigg

elaborate nativity scenes have decorated the city of santa monica, california. now that tradition is coming to an end after a judge upheld a ban on religious displays because of a conflict between atheists and christians. wadi natroudominique d-natali is live. >> the life size 40-booth displays were in palisades park in santa monica. they took objection to the christian mention and erected their own unholy ones. this week a u.s. district judge rejected a motion from the santa monica nativity scenes committee, a coalition of churches erecting the display stopping them from showing the nativity scene this year. the city of santa monica was constitutionally within its right to eliminate the exemption so the display could not go up some say. but they are saying also it is a war on christmas. >> if you keep caving to this mate speech, and i'm going to tall it that for the first time. hate speech also includes the hatred of the christmas message. and there is a war on christmas, and it's sad and disturbing that only half of this country understands that. >> reporter: william also compared the cit

, the democrat from california. as far as those talking points go, it is not at all clear where they were edited. what we do know apparently is that the original determination that al qaeda was involved, or al qaeda affiliated groups was sent out the front door to the cia and went through some sort of editing process, perhaps interagency, perhaps at the white house that still hasn't been answered. what we do know is if the white house wanted to provide the answers, they could have done it before the election and chose not to. let's not forget, of course, general petraeus and his whole personal scandal, debacle, that could also be professional. we still don't know the answers to that. the administration knew of the petraeus investigation. the president claims that he didn't before the election, now we're only learning of it after. >> let's talk a little bit more about susan rice and that whole situation with the talking points, because she is the ambassador to the u.n. she has been mentioned as a possible replacement for hillary clinton as secretary of state. republican senators john mccain, lind

on "happening now," new developments in the controversy over a nativity display in california. we told you about it yesterday. a federal judge ruling against churches in santa monica saying the nativity scene cannot be displayed as it has been for the past 60 years. rick folbaum has more on that. >> reporter: well, jon, the judge says that she made her ruling allowing this ban because of the city's decision which affects all people equally, christians, jews and atheists alike. santa monica's palisades park, it hosted a giant nativity scene since 1953, a decision that went on without controversy until a few years ago when an atheist put up an anti-religious display. then the man got others to apply to the city for display permits, all of them for made-up causes, and eventually the city says it was inundated with permit requests which is why the decision was made to ban all of them, period. christian groups sued, and that's what led to the judge's decision upholding that ban. here are attorneys from both sides. >> we are, obviously, very pleased with the court's decision. it is a decision that we

favorite cable stations, we can't imagine what happens across america from california to new york, from the furthest state going to the north, to our southern friends. including the great state of texas. every morning, every morning some family, some single mother, some single dad, some mother and father rise at 4 or 5 or 6:00 in the morning and on some tables there may be more than one would expect for breakfast, on some tables there is no breakfast. they rush to prepare for the day's work. they rush sometimes to get their children to schools that are far beyond bus stops. and the reason why i say that is, many school districts have even cut out school buses. so that means that these hardworking americans have to rush and get their children to school. and they go off to jobs that are eight, 10, 12 hours long. where they work all day. maybe they had someone, a grandmother or someone, pick up the child, maybe they did not. and therefore they have to either have extended public care or wind up picking up those children, but what i will say to you is that they toil and work every day. so t
